Genoa presents the calendar 2024

The national presentation of Genoa as the European Capital of Sport 2024 and its sports events program took place 15th FEB in Rome, at the press room of the Olympic Stadium. Presentation featured a large delegation from ACES Italy led by the General Secretary of ACES Europe, Hugo Alonso, and the Vice President of ACES Italy, Luigi Ciaralli, the Mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Genoa Alessandra Bianchi, the Ministers for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi and for Tourism Daniela Santanché, the President of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) Giovanni Malagò, the President of the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) Luca Pancalli, the President of Sport and Health Marco Mezzaroma, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Edoardo Rixi, the CEO of Sport and Health Diego Nepi Molineris, and the Deputy Vice President of CONI Silvia Salis. Representing the Liguria European Region of Sport 2025 was the Sports Councilor Simona Ferro.

Genoa was awarded the title of European Capital of Sport for 2024 by ACES Europe, the Federation of European Capitals and Cities of Sport, becoming the stage for national and international sports events and numerous projects involving men and women of all ages and abilities. Already, more than 100 events are scheduled, spread across 32 different sports disciplines.

As published by the Municipality of Genoa, the economic impact forecast for the area, currently based only on estimated overnight stays, exceeds 9 million euros in direct revenue, to which other expenses made by athletes, tourists, and visitors, as well as indirect expenses, must be added.
