Crowdfunding and Match-Funding for Cities
On April 10, 2026, ACES, in collaboration with the European Platform for Sport Innovation (EPSI), will organise an online webinar focused on innovative financing mechanisms for municipalities and public authorities.
Titled “Crowdfunding and Match-Funding”, the session will take place at 11:30 CET (in Spanish at 10 CET) and will offer a practical and interactive learning experience aimed at supporting cities in diversifying their funding strategies and strengthening the impact of their sports initiatives.
The webinar will be led by Francesca Passeri, Head of Business Department at EPSI, who will guide participants through the fundamentals of crowdfunding and introduce match-funding models as complementary tools to traditional public financing.
This joint initiative reflects the shared commitment of EPSI and ACES to promote innovative, participatory, and sustainable approaches to local development. By combining EPSI’s expertise in alternative finance with ACES’ extensive network of cities, the session aims to translate strategic cooperation into practical solutions for municipalities across Europe.
Throughout the webinar, participants will gain a clear understanding of how crowdfunding works and how it can be integrated into public action.
The session will also explore different match-funding models, including public, private and hybrid approaches, and their implementation at the municipal level.
In addition, attendees will benefit from real European case studies, practical insights, and actionable strategies to design more participatory and financially resilient sports projects.
The one-hour session will conclude with key takeaways and guidance on follow-up support, offering cities concrete tools to activate local ecosystems and enhance citizen engagement through innovative funding mechanisms.
This webinar represents a valuable opportunity for public authorities within the ACES network to explore new ways of financing sport and community initiatives while increasing their social impact and long-term sustainability.
