UCLG World Congress in Tangier

ACES President Gian Francesco Lupattelli and Secretary General Hugo Alonso attended the UCLG World Congress of Local and Regional Leaders, held in Tangier, Morocco.

The congress brought together mayors, regional leaders, policymakers, and representatives of international organizations from across the globe to discuss key challenges and opportunities facing cities and territories, including sustainability, governance, social inclusion, and local development.

During the event, the ACES delegation held meetings with UCLG President and Mayor of Konya (Türkiye), Uğur İbrahim Altay, and UCLG Secretary General Emilia Saiz. The meetings provided an opportunity to explore future areas of cooperation and to highlight the important role of sport as a driver of health, social cohesion, inclusion, and sustainable community development.

These discussions further strengthened the relationship between ACES and UCLG, the largest global network of local and regional governments, representing thousands of cities and territories worldwide.

ACES‘ participation in this important international forum reflects its ongoing commitment to promoting public policies that encourage physical activity, sport for all, and sustainable development through sport.

By engaging with key international partners, ACES continues to expand its global network and reinforce its position as a leading organization in the promotion of sport-friendly cities, regions, and communities.
