Success at the World Sport Congress in Sofia

The Faculty of Sports Science in Sofia, Bulgaria, recently hosted the World Sport Congress, where ACES made a significant impact. The event focused on sustainability, physical activity, and the promotion of green cities, gathering representatives from various European cities to share their experiences and challenges in building more sustainable and active urban environments.

Manchester, designated as the current European Capital of Cycling, stood out for its innovative policies promoting cycling as a sustainable and healthy means of transportation. Erzurum, set to be the European Capital of Winter Sports in 2025, presented its strategic plans for developing infrastructure and sports programs tailored to winter and mountain environments, solidifying its position as a leader in the area.

Additionally, cities like Cologne, Budapest, Naples, Tallin and other notable European urban centers participated, showcasing their commitment to creating spaces that encourage physical activity and promote a healthy lifestyle for their citizens.

The World Sport Congress in Sofia not only facilitated a valuable exchange of successful experiences and projects but also reaffirmed ACES’ mission to support cities in their transition toward greener and more active urban models. The event highlighted the importance of sports as a fundamental pillar of urban sustainability.
