The Municipality of Paredes has officially presented its designation as the first-ever Euro-Atlantic Capital of Sport 2027, a historic title awarded by ACES.

This prestigious recognition acknowledges Paredes’ long-term commitment to promoting sport and physical activity, the quality of its sporting infrastructure and the development of inclusive programmes that encourage participation among people of all ages and abilities.

During the official presentation, the municipality highlighted that this achievement is the result of many years of sustained investment in sport across the entire territory and in a wide range of sporting disciplines.

“This distinction is only possible thanks to the strong commitment that has been made to sport across all disciplines and throughout the municipality,” representatives of Paredes underlined during the event.

As the first city to receive the Euro-Atlantic Capital of Sport title, Paredes will play a pioneering role in building stronger sporting links between Europe and the Atlantic region. Its designation will provide an international platform to showcase good practices, encourage cooperation and demonstrate how sport can contribute to healthier, more inclusive and connected communities.
