Final meeting of “Schoolyards4Sport” held in Valencia
Valencia (Spain) hosted the final Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) of the Erasmus+ European project “Schoolyards4Sport – Revitalize the School Sport Yards”, an initiative led by L’Orma Association (Milan, Italy) with the partnership of ACES and others from Portugal, Greece, Germany and Spain
The event took place at the Fundació Municipal Deportiva Valencia, gathering all project partners to assess the outcomes and set the course for future collaborations. Among the participating municipalities were Basauri (European Town of Sport 2024) and Alcobendas (European City of Sport 2025) from Spain, and Velky Šariš (European Town of Sport 2021) from Slovakia—highlighting the strong involvement of ACES-awarded cities in European projects promoting sport at the grassroots level.
One of the key achievements celebrated was the creation of an Administrative Protocol to facilitate the installation of school sport yards. This was made possible through the coordinated efforts of municipalities, schools, and sports clubs, ensuring a sustainable and inclusive approach to promoting physical activity among students.
The meeting also marked the official launch of the “Schoolyards4Sport Network,” a collaborative platform designed to strengthen the role of sport in schools through long-term partnerships between key stakeholders.
ACES was represented at the meeting by Alessio Di Maio, Events and European Project Manager, and Javier Linero, Marketing and Communication Manager, underlining the organization’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in school sport across Europe.
The venue was symbolic, as Valencia was also celebrated during the event for its legacy as one of the most successful ACES European Capitals of Sport, a title it held in 2011.
