European Sports Conference in Tallinn

The Estonian capital, officially designated as European Capital of Sport 2025, hosted the European Sports Capital Conference: “Movement Connects the City”, bringing together representatives from ACES, city officials, international experts, and sports advocates to discuss how sport shapes healthier, more active, and connected urban communities.

The day began with welcoming speeches by ACES representatives alongside the Vicemayor of Tallinn, followed by an inspiring video showcasing the city’s vibrant sports culture and active lifestyle. UN Tourism also took the floor with an interesting presentation about the power of tourism and sport.

The afternoon concluded with “Sport as a Lifestyle – Personal Stories”, where several ACES cities shared best practices and success stories. Among them, Alcobendas, celebrating ten years as European City of Sport (2015–2025), and Kayseri, recognized as Best European City of Sport 2024 and candidate for World Capital of Sport 2029.

In closing, a joint vision statement and call to action emphasized the collective commitment to promoting sport as a tool for health, inclusion, and sustainable urban growth. The day ended with a guided tour of Tallinn’s key sports facilities, including the Athletics Hall, T1, and Tondiraba outdoor complex, followed by a Mayoral reception at City Hall.

The conference reaffirmed ACES Europe’s mission: to connect cities through sport, inspire healthier lifestyles, and celebrate the transformative power of movement in building better communities.
