Budapest receives the title ECS 2019
Last Tuesday December 4th the ViceMayor of Budapest, Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky, received the flag and plaque as European Capital of Sport 2019 in the ACES Europe Awards Ceremony in the EU Parliament with Commissioner of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Tibor Navracsics and the President Gian races Lupattelli.
The handover of the flag from Sofia 2018 to Budapest was very touching in front of the other capitals as well: Malaga 2020, Lisbon 2021 and The Hague 2022. The candidates for 2023 Genoa (Italy), Glasgow (Scotland – UK) and Kryvyi Rio (Ukraine) were present also in the event.
Two hours of intense ceremony in where more than 30 cities received as well their flags as European City, Community, Town, Island, Resort and Company of Sport.
