#BeActive key players’ meeting in Sintra: Challenges for the next EWoS
How can the impact of the European Week of Sport be multiplied? What should the role of European sport organisations and local authorities be in bringing more citizens closer to sports?
These and numerous questions attempted to answer representatives of 43 National bodies and 47 sport federations at the #BeActive key players’ seminar (5th Edition) that took place in Sintra on May 23-24.
During the seminar, representatives of the European Commission discussed with the attendees about the challenges, the communication strategy and the objectives of the European Week of Sport (23-30 September 2019). Moreover, interactive events and team building activities were held with the aim of strengthening collaboration, proposing ideas and exchanging best practices between partners.
According to the European Barometer, 6 out of 10 European exercise rarely. This percentage needs to be decreased for the improvement of Europeans’ health, as well as for the reduction of costs in the health sector. In response to this problem, #BeActive initiative has been taking concrete actions to encourage Europeans to exercise sports, bringing closer to sport millions of Europeans.
