Awarding the best cities in the EUAPPTIVE BeActive challenge 2025

ACES had the great pleasure of presenting the final results of the #EUAPPTIVE project during the ACES Gala Award Ceremony, held on 12 December 2025 at the European Parliament premises in Brussels.

ACES is proud to be a partner in the #EUAPPTIVE project, whose main objective is to promote physical activity and active ageing among senior citizens across Europe, while simultaneously contributing to environmental sustainability.

During the ceremony, the outstanding outcomes of the #EUAPPTIVE #BeActive Challenge 2025 were officially unveiled. The challenge, which ran from July to September 2025, encouraged participants to integrate just 15 minutes of daily physical activity into their everyday routines an accessible initiative that delivered truly remarkable results.

Impact by the numbers:

  • 🏃‍♂️ 26,767 km total distance walked
  • 📅 192 km average per participant (approximately 2.3 km per day)
  • 🌳 4,610 kg of CO₂ emissions avoided, with an average saving of 33 kg per participant

These figures go far beyond statistics. They represent a tangible contribution to health, social inclusion, sustainability and community cohesion, clearly demonstrating that active ageing is both achievable and impactful.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to the top three performing municipalities, whose commitment, engagement and leadership stood out throughout the challenge:

  • 🥇 1st Place: Town of Lepoglava (Croatia)
  • 🥈 2nd Place: Vila Nova de Poiares (Portugal)
  • 🥉 3rd Place: Kayseri (Türkiye)

ACES warmly congratulates the winners and all participating cities, whose efforts prove that age is no barrier to leading an active, healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
