ACES welcomes the European Commission’s new strategic vision for sport in Europe
The European Commission is preparing a new communication entitled “A strategic vision for sport in Europe: Reinforcing the European Sport Model”, an initiative announced by Commissioner Glenn Micallef during the 2025 EU Sport Forum.
This important initiative aims to address some of the main challenges currently facing the sport sector in Europe, including financial sustainability, inequalities, governance issues, the decline of volunteering and the need to strengthen inclusion.
Through coordinated action at European level, the European Commission seeks to reinforce the European Sport Model and support the future development of sport as a key tool for social cohesion, health, education and community engagement.
ACES welcomes this initiative and reaffirms its commitment to promoting sport, active lifestyles and the values of inclusion, participation and cooperation among European cities, regions and communities.
