ACES – Territories in Motion: Sport as a key driver for a new tourism vision

At the TTG Travel Experience in Rimini, one of Europe’s leading tourism fairs, ACES and Decathlon Italia brought together institutions, local authorities, and private companies to discuss how sport can shape a more sustainable and community-based model of tourism.

Under the title “ACES – Territories in Motion: Sustainability, Events and Local Promotion through Sport”, the conference highlighted sport’s growing role in regenerating territories, strengthening community identity, and extending tourism beyond traditional seasons.

Speakers such as Angela Maceri (Decathlon Italia), Debora Miccio (Istituto per il Credito Sportivo e Culturale), Rossano Fabbri (San Marino), and Endrit Hoxha (Albania) shared inspiring examples of how sport is transforming their regions. From Liguria’s outdoor strategy to Bergamo’s urban regeneration and Genoa’s €47 million impact as European Capital of Sport 2024, every case reinforced the same vision: sport as a catalyst for sustainable growth.

Closing the session, Vincenzo Lupattelli, President of ACES Italia, underlined the event’s message:

“Sport is a universal language that unites people and territories. Through sport, we can build a more sustainable, inclusive, and dynamic model of tourism for the future.”
