ACES supports joint statement on Erasmus+ 2028–2034
ACES is proud to be among the 117 organisations that have officially endorsed the Joint Statement on the Proposal for the Regulation of the Erasmus+ Programme for the period 2028–2034 .
The statement, published on 8 December 2025 in Brussels, presents a unified position from the European sport and physical activity sector on the future of one of the EU’s flagship programmes.
The document recognises the crucial role of sport and physical activity in Europe’s economy, health, education and social cohesion. With sports generating €627.5 billion in GDP and providing over 6 million jobs, the sector calls for stronger political and financial support within the next Multiannual Financial Framework.
ACES strongly supports the statement’s key recommendations, including:
• Increasing the overall Erasmus+ budget and ensuring that the share allocated to sport does not diminish.
• Earmarking at least 5% of the programme’s budget specifically for sport and physical activity.
• Guaranteeing balanced governance and fair access across all EU Member States.
• Simplifying administrative procedures to allow easier access for grassroots organisations.
• Strengthening the link between sport, health, education, innovation and inclusion.
• Extending transnational cooperation and ensuring sport is mainstreamed across major EU funding programmes.
As an active organisation in the promotion of sport, wellbeing and European values, ACES reaffirms its commitment to advocating for a stronger role of sport in EU policies and funding frameworks.
Investing in sport is investing in a healthier, more cohesive and more resilient Europe.
