ACES reinforces its leadership in LATAM

As part of the 3rd Latin American Summit of Cities for Sport and Development, held in Chihuahua, the current American Capital of Sport 2025, ACES reaffirmed its role as a key reference for the promotion of active, healthy and inclusive cities across Latin America.

The event hosted the 3rd General Assembly of the Network of Sport and Development Cities (Red de Ciudades D+D), where the municipality of León, Mexico, was officially ratified as President of the Network for the 2025–2027 period.

The summit brought together representatives from 28 cities and 10 continental organizations, all committed to generating impactful public policies through sport and physical activity. It marked another milestone in the consolidation of a continental movement that ACES actively supports and promotes.

The presidency presented the progress made within the Red de Ciudades D+D, a network that began with 16 cities from 8 countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Mexico), and now includes 40 local governments from 11 countries across Latin America. This growth reflects the increasing influence of sport as a driver for development, and the growing role of ACES as a strategic ally in this transformation.

During the event, certificates of recognition were awarded to the cities that participated in the second edition of April: Month of Physical Activity and Sport, as well as to the more than 75 cities that joined the American Week of Sport 2025.

ACES also presented the upcoming 2025 American Week of Sport, which will be officially launched in Zapopan, Jalisco (Mexico) from September 19 to 21, with the participation of top continental sport authorities. The city of Zapopan will host this flagship event, reinforcing Mexico’s commitment and ACES’s presence as a continental benchmark in sport-based development.
