ACES joins Latin American Sport Summit in León

León, Mexico, hosted the 4th Summit of Latin American Cities for Sport and Development during 11 and 12th September bringing together leaders and organisations committed to placing sport at the heart of local development.

ACES was represented by Gonzalo Cuesta, ACES Coordinator for the Americas, who joined participants in a gathering focused on cooperation between cities and the contribution of sport to more inclusive, active communities.

The summit highlighted the strength of the D+D network, in which UNESCO participates alongside ACES and other partners. This shared platform connects cities and institutions around a common goal: using sport to support development, widen opportunities for participation and improve quality of life.

For ACES, the meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships across Latin America and support the exchange of experience between municipalities. Such cooperation helps cities learn from one another and develop approaches to sport that respond to the needs of their communities.

Participation in the León summit reflects ACES’ continuing commitment to Latin America and its role in connecting local authorities with an international network of expertise and cooperation. Through these partnerships, ACES continues to promote sport as a practical instrument for inclusion, education and healthier cities.
