Lisbon, European Capital of Sport 2021

Lisbon has become in European Capital of Sport 2021. The Evaluation Commission visited the Portuguese city the last weekend and after four intense days decided to award Lisbon with this recognition.

It was the second time the city presented the candidature after failed against Alicante in 2004. And for this second bid they have improved facilities, investments and sport management in the city.

National, Regional and Local Government supported a great candidature during the last two years and with a future investment in the city of 26 millions euros to be ready for 2021.
