14-08-16.- The Hague has presented its candidacy last August 10th as European Capital of Sport 2021in the 'Olympic Experience' of the beach. With this new application are already two cities candidates to the award after submission months ago of Lisbon. The application period is open until March 30, 2017.
In the press conference the Councillor for Sports of The Hague, Rabin Baldewsingh, highlighted the reasons of presenting the candidature as strong incentive to get fulfill their roadmap until 2030, meaning that 100 % of the population practice sport regularly. The figures today of active population are already quite remarkable with 70% of people who practice physical activity regularly in the city.
The official launch event of The Hague as a candidate for European Capital of Sport was supported by the Ministry of Health and Sports, Dutch Olympic Committee and Association of Dutch cities on Sport. By ACES Europe, officially attended to the event the Secretary General, Hugo Alonso, and the Delegate for Central Europe, Berislav Cizmek.
