19-1-16.- The Slovak town of Kosice has started early its year as European City of Sport 2016 on 6 January with an extraordinary opening ceremony where did not miss a running race for the historic center of the city, concerts with renowned artists of the country as well as a extraordinary fireworks at nightfall which was one of the great attractions of the day.
Richard Rasi, mayor of Kosice, chaired the different events that took part with the Head of Sport Unit of the European Commission, Yves Le Lostecque; General Secretary ACES Europe, Hugo Alonso; and the Chief of Zone, Lukas Vorel. Similarly, the Slovak Prime Minister, Robert Fico, also was there taking advantage of an official trip in the city.
"Kosice has started the year strong showing that it is a European City of Sport with commitment and desire to do a year full of activities. On behalf of ACES Europe I want to thank and congratulate the mayor and the government team for the great agenda planned" said Hugo Alonso.
