Guadalajara, almost 15M€ of economic impact

Guadalajara (Spain) was in 2018 European City of Sport which gave an economic impact of almost 15M€ in the city and more than 200 sport events.

Guadalajara made a statement of the year as European City of Sport. A total of 231 sporting events, 17 of them international, with the presence of athletes from more than a hundred countries, nearly 80,000 overnight stays in hotels in the capital and surrounding areas and an economic impact of about 15 million euros .

These are figures that the Mayor of the city, Antonio Román, discovered on December at the business breakfast entitled “Balance of one year of sports success and economic revitalization of Guadalajara” and that took place at the Tryp hotel, within the framework of the program ” Guadalajara Empresarial”, promoted by the Guadalajara City Council, Diputación Provincial and CEOE-CEPYME Guadalajara.

Román intervened in a forum full of politicians, businessmen and especially athletes and he did it accompanied by the CEOE-CEPYME Guadalajara president, Agustín de Grandes, and Alejandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, as well as Antonio Garde, representative of ACES Europe, private entity that granted the city the European title.
